Character Info
Name: Lí Cadmus
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Age: 19
Personality: Lí is a generally affable young man, though he has a preference to remain out from under scrutiny when he can. Outwardly, he tries to maintain an appearance of being cold and logical, but the reality is that he's rather unstable, emotionally. He often feels trapped within his mind, and combined with his history, he also feels unable to properly express himself, leading to pent up emotions constantly being held back until he reaches a breaking point.
In social situations, Lí often feels awkward, not knowing what to say to keep conversation going, as well as having a near-constant worry of being recognized and judged due to his history. With those he considers friends, though, he'll speak his mind more freely, often going on tangents that relate to previous topics in obscure manners.
On the whole, Lí despises lies and dishonesty, though he has no issue with half-truths and misdirection, often using them himself to avoid uncomfortable topics. He also has a strong appreciation for beauty in many forms, especially in regards to nature, apparel and a good meal.
Appearance: Lí stands at 5'10" with a slender build, weighing in at about 140 pounds. He has a fair, feminine appearance, having a narrow chin, thin lips and a small nose. His shoulders are fairly narrow as well, further lending to his feminine looks. Little of his physique is excess weight, lending him a wiry musculature. His posture can be described as generally proud and upright, though his general demeanor seems a strong contradiction of that description.
Lí's skin is a pale shade, though not unhealthily so. He has fair, dirty blonde hair reaching the small of his back that he keeps tied back in a ponytail, and his eyes are a vivid bright blue color, as if to contrast his standard attire.
Representation: Harper Lee's Atticus Finch, from
To Kill a Mockingbird.
Color: Sky Blue
Semblance:
Shift; Lí is capable of dramatically and instantly altering his momentum without bringing harm to himself. He can also extend this to his weapon.
Emblem: A pair of black dragon wings
Bio: Lí was born to an average family, and lived a simple, relatively happy childhood. Even with his parents' divorce when he was young, he still had a generally easygoing attitude. When his mother remarried, he initially held some animosity towards his step-father, but over time, Lí came to accept the man as family.
At the age of 13, Lí enrolled in Signal Academy, and quickly made an impression through academic excellence. He also forged his weapon, a Wind Dust imbibed sword attached to a hook, collectively named Wyrmtalon. Throughout his first and second year in Signal, his academic standings were among the top of class, yet his combat scores were less impressive.
During Lí's third year, tragedy struck back home, and his father was put up on charges of sexually assaulting a younger girl the elder Cadmus frequently watched over. During the trial, Lí openly stood as a character witness for his father, defending the man in the face of the rather heinous charges being levied against him. In the end, it was all for naught, and due to his actions, Lí was labeled a pariah and largely outcast from society.
The return to Signal brought with it a flurry of whispers and rumors around the young man, and he eventually retreated within his mind to gain distance from everyone. He took to hunting Grimm during his off time, and while his academics had slipped after returning to Signal, his excursions brought with them a vast increase in fighting ability, as well as the discovery of his Semblance.
After graduating Signal, Lí felt he was left with nowhere to go in life, feeling unwelcome among society and not desiring to bring the family he had left into a perceived infamy with him. Independently, he took up hunting Grimm, and he was shortly discovered by a hunter who'd been sent to clear out a small pack of Beowolves Lí had just dispatched. He was taken in for consideration of enrollment into Beacon, and once he was presented with the offer to enroll at Beacon, he accepted without hesitation.
Initiation and the following time period were trying on Lí. Tensions between he and his team made for awkward moments aplenty, though they eventually eased, and Lí began to feel more comfortable with them. His academic performance is on par with his early years at Signal, and his combat standards continue to climb, making him one of the premier students in his year.
Equipment and Battle Info
Battle attire: Lí's most common apparel, from the top down, consists of a black, fitted vest worn open over a thick button-up shirt a light blue in color, which is tucked into a pair of black slacks. His shirt and slacks are plain in appearance, with no decorative embroidery, though his vest has a pair of wings embroidered on the back and wrapping over his shoulders to the front. He also wears a pair of black leather boots, which have a slight heel that adds another two inches to his height when worn. His boots reach halfway up his shins underneath his slacks.
Fighting style: Lí prefers to avoid incoming strikes rather than blocking them directly, as he has limited defensive capability with his Aura. He often utilizes multiple quick strikes to bring his opponents down, though his semblance does allow him to use more powerful, focused attacks when the situation calls for it.
Weapon Name: Wyrmtalon
Weapon Range: Melee to 25m
Weapon type: Sword and Hook
Weapon Description: Wyrmtalon is composed of a jian and a hook connected by a durable elastic cord. The sword is imbibed with Wind Dust, allowing options for combat beyond the reach of the elastic cord.
The style of the blade is meant to invoke a draconic image, with the pommel slightly tapering to a point, the hilt being wrapped in leather dyed blue, and the guard flaring over the blade in a shape reminiscent of a dragon's maw. The hook is essentially the point of a harpoon, and the elastic cord is a blue similar to the hilt of the jian.
Weapon Abilities: Lí commonly holds the sword in a reverse grip, coiling the cord loosely to keep the hook close, instead of swinging about wildly. He'll use the hook as an impromptu dagger at extremely close ranges, but more often will throw it out with his Semblance, using the cord as a guide to follow and reengage at melee range. Using the Wind Dust imbued in the blade, he can launch or unbalance opponents, depending on size.
Misc. Info
Family: Aurelius Cadmus; Father, imprisoned. Gina Rallin; mother, out of contact. Orville Rallin; stepfather, out of contact.
Strengths and Weaknesses: Lí is academically brilliant, as well as an able fighter, but his Aura is unable to stand up to many strikes, leading to reduced defensive abilities. He possesses an above average level of tactical and strategic acumen. He is emotionally unstable, but during open combat and other stressful situations may turn chatty in order to maintain a level head.
Other: Lí is an exemplary gunsmith, but does not use firearms by personal choice. His semblance is a reflection of his emotional instability. Unlike most men, he has little issue discussing a woman's biological process, having a rather clinical view of the matter.
